On Sunday, March 1, 2020, members of the IAM Local Lodge 1922 Women’s Committee joined with our fellow IAM members and labour allies from across the GTA for the Peel Regional Labour Council’s Women’s Brunch to celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8).
“It was a privilege to be in the presence of women celebrating women on Sunday.
Sharing brunch with a group of ladies who share the same passion for women’s rights and workplace equity was both rewarding and enlightening. I’m looking forward to future events and a future of women pioneering change within our workplaces!”Amanda Shambrook, IAM Local Lodge 1922 Women’s Committee member
“My experience was incredible. I feel encouraged and supported.
It is very exciting networking with women from different industries.
I really enjoyed the overall event as it was well-organized with fun activities such as raffles, awards, and also brief speeches.”Samandeep Kaur, IAM Local Lodge 1922 Women’s Committee member
“Thanks IAM District Lodge 78 and IAM Local Lodge 1922 for sending us to the Peel Regional Labour Council’s Women’s Brunch on March 1, and thanks to District 78 President Mike Edwards and Local 1922 President Jerry Jarosz for supporting the 1922 Women’s Committee.
“The passion and motivation at the brunch, powered by the call for us to fight for women’s rights and equity was inspiring. Together, let’s work not only for BREAD, but ROSES too.”Jin Kunstek, IAM Local Lodge 1922 Women’s Committee member
With almost 40 IAM members in attendance from different locals, this was the largest IAM contingent to ever attend the Peel IWD celebration.
Thank you to our 1922 Women’s Committee members for representing our Local at the brunch, as we stand together for International Women’s Day and mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Join the 1922 Women’s Committee
We’re looking for members who self-identify as women interested in joining our Women’s Committee.
