Montreal, QC – Workers at AAA Canada voted 84% to join IAM Local Lodge 1758 on 18 July, 2019. The provincial certification means the IAM will represent every one of the workers (excluding office workers) in the province of Québec employed by AAA Canada.

Jean-Marc Brunet, Lead Organiser for IAM District Lodge 11 in Montreal said, “Our organisers worked very hard to get the vote out. Many of these new members already work in places represented by the IAM as subcontractors (Bombardier, Airbus). They have seen the advantages our members have of being with the IAM,” he said.

Co-organisers Éric Gagné and Ron Trottier, also from District 11 were key to the campaign. The campaign itself lasted 7 months, but the organisers remained focussed. The Quebec Labour Board forced a mail-in vote lasting one month, which added to the overall length of the campaign.

Dave Chartrand, IAM Quebec Coordinator, who oversees activities in Quebec, said, “The IAM continues to focus on new membership in the Canadian aerospace sector. Workers in the sector already know about the benefits of being with the IAM!”

AAA Canada is an on-site manufacturing company that offers specialized subcontracting and technical assistance services related to industrialization, production and supplier monitoring processes in the aerospace and transportation sectors.

The IAM represents close to 10,000 members working in the Canadian aerospace sector.
