For Immediate Release

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Members at Northside Toyota overwhelmingly accepted the tentative agreement this evening. This was their first contract after joining the IAM in November 2018. This agreement now covers all automotive service technicians, apprentices and parts department personnel. They are new members of Local Lodge 2332.

“This first agreement brings with it solid pay grids with yearly increases, an IAM pension, increases in benefits and work rules that are not at the whim of management,” said Lou Pagrach, Grand Lodge Representative. “I’m not surprised it was accepted with such huge numbers.

“The workers here saw how we represented their counterparts at the other dealerships,” explained IAM Grand Lodge Representative Lou Pagrach. “We’re growing our footprint in Sault Ste. Marie and we want to add more dealerships. These workers wanted fairness in the workplace, better wages, better benefits and a pension – and they got that,” said Pagrach.

Northside Toyota is part of Palumbo Investments and is the largest volume dealer in Sault Ste. Marie. The IAM now represents workers at six auto dealerships in Sault Ste. Marie.

The IAM represents more than 1550 workers in automotive dealerships on Vancouver Island as well as in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
