Members from IAM Local Lodge 1922 joined with other IAM members from across Canada to advocate for key labour issues and workers’ rights as part of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Lobby Day on Parliament Hill on February 25, 2020.
Eighty-four IAM members and almost 400 CLC labour affiliates met with their respective MPs and Senators, in what was the largest CLC lobby ever held, to amplify our call for:
- Universal pharmacare
- Protecting workers’ pensions
- Raising the minimum wage
- Ratifying the International Labour Organization’s Convention 190 to end Violence and Harassment
“Speaking to our politicians and lobbying is very effective,” said IAM Local Lodge 1922 President Jerry Jarosz, who participated in the CLC lobby. “As a union we strongly encourage our members to engage their elected representatives.”
“For those who were able to attend the CLC lobby, please share the messages and reactions you received with the members in your workplace. Together, we can make a better Canada through cooperation and healthy discussion.”
