Edmonton, AB – IAM Local Lodge 1722 in Edmonton concluded a successful ratification to their new 3-year contract. The Bargaining Committee, consisting of Trent Mills, Lori Fairbrother and Curtis Davis, together with Kyle Franzen – Business Representative, needed only four days of bargaining and one day of mediation.

“I would like to thank the entire team for a job well done,” said Kyle Franzen, BR. “Their tireless commitment to their membership was shown by stepping up to represent the Wajax group by going in well-prepared and in tune to what the needs of the group were.”

Highlights of the agreement are:

  • Up to 6.5% wage increases over 3-year term
  • Increases to safety boots and related accessories
  • Increase of winter workwear to provide winter boots
  • Small language change to dates of when vacation applied and approved
  • LOU for employee appreciation of $1000

The new collective bargaining agreement was ratified on 27 April, 2022 and is effective from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2025

24 members – Heavy Equipment Technicians, Electricians, Welders, Parts Technicians, Warehouse, Shipper/Receivers and Service Advisors ratified the new agreement with a margin of 81%.

Wajax Power Systems provides service and support an extensive range of industries and core sectors of the Canadian economy including energy and renewables, food and beverage, construction, industrial and commercial, transportation, the oil sands, forestry, oil and gas, metal process, mining and marine.
