On March 8, 2026, Sisters Jin Kunstek, Sabina Barbagallo, Karen Santer from IAM Local 1922 proudly attended the International Women’s Day celebration hosted by the Peel Region Labor Council.
The event began at 11:00 a.m. with an Indigenous land acknowledgment, followed by the singing of O Canada and a tribute to Nihal Bahadir, a member of the International Women’s Day Committee, recognizing her contributions and dedication.
IAM sisters were honored to stand in solidarity with fellow union members and community partners to celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women. Events like this serve as an important reminder of the power of unity and collective action in building a more equitable future.
IAM Local 1922 remains committed to supporting and uplifting women in the labor movement and continues to advocate for dignity, respect, and equality for all workers.
