For Immediate Release

Calgary, AB – Airport Terminal Services (ATS) workers in Calgary and Edmonton have gone weeks without pay thanks to a new payroll service provider.

“We have members who haven’t been paid in a month,” explained a frustrated Keith Aiken – IAM Transportation District Lodge 140 General Chairperson. “Ever since the company began using a new payroll service provider at the start of January there have been numerous problems. Members have been missing significant premiums, vacation pay hasn’t been paid and every pay period it’s a new problem. The employer claims it’s working on a solution but it’s not happening fast enough, our members are owed thousands of dollars, we’re talking money in people’s pockets.”

More than 400 members of IAM Local Lodge 1681 in Edmonton and IAM Local Lodge 2734 in Calgary have been affected by the ongoing payroll issues. “This is totally unacceptable and we want a solution now, our members have earned this money and they should be paid,” said Aiken.

The IAM is the largest union in Canada’s air transport sector.
